Rosh haShanah
2nd-Day Program
Wednesday, October 5 / 2 Tishri
THIS YEAR,
WE ARE once again offering an opportunity to participate in worship on the
second day of Rosh haShanah, in addition to the Adult Education
programming offered for the past several years. The worship and
study will be led by members of our congregation. Through this
option, our synagogue recognizes and celebrates the variety of
observance among its members within the spectrum of Reform Judaism,
the involvement of our congregants in leading communal worship,
and the opportunity for adults to engage in the mitzvah of Talmud
Torah—the study of Torah.
The Torah
reading for the service—and the text study later in the
morning —will be the Genesis 21,
which is the traditional reading for second day of Rosh haShanah. This powerful passage about family and relationships touches upon so many of the essential themes
of the Holy Days: the honor we pay to our foundations; the search
for our place within the universe; and the
hope we hold for the future.
Please join
us as we gather as a community for prayer and reflection about
creating new worlds of possibility for the New Year.
