Upper School Information
All students in Grades 7-12 meet on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:30. The evening begins with dinner and is followed by a 1.5-hour class. Students can choose from a variety of courses such as Jews and Entertainment, Zionism and Israel , Jewish Identity, Yiddish, Confronting Anti-Semitism, Introduction to Jewish Teaching, Modern Hebrew, Jewish Spirituality, Holocaust Studies and many more. 7 th Graders are required to take Modern Hebrew. 7 th Grade students who sign up for the Holocaust Studies class play an important role in our congregation's commemoration of Yom HaShoah at an evening service on Thursday, April 24. The Upper School program works on a mini-mester calendar, with each 5-week mini-mester separated by an all school program. This year, the overarching theme of the all school programs will be World Jewry. Students in grades 7-12 will have the opportunity to learn about Jews living in Israel , India , Asia, Ukraine and the Former Soviet Union.
